Modeling Active Colloids: From Active Brownian Particles to Hydrodynamic and Chemical Fields

چکیده

Active colloids are self-propelled particles moving in viscous fluids by consuming fuel from their surroundings. Here, we review the numerical and theoretical modeling of active propelled self-generated near-surface flows. We start with generic model an Brownian particle taking into account potential forces effective pairwise interaction, which include hydrodynamic phoretic interactions. Also, squirmer as a microswimmer is introduced. then discuss explicit fluid flow full hydrodynamic-chemical coupling. Finally, recent advances selected topics used to study motion crowded complex environments, microrheology baths, colloidal engines, adaptive responses help machine learning techniques, well effects colloid inertia.

Active Brownian particles with energy depots modeling animal mobility.

In the model of active motion studied here, Brownian particles have the ability to take up energy from the environment to store it in an internal depot and to convert internal energy into kinetic energy. Considering also internal dissipation, we derive a simplified model of active biological motion. For the take-up of energy two different examples are discussed: (i) a spatially homogeneous supp...

Ideal bulk pressure of active Brownian particles.

The extent to which active matter might be described by effective equilibrium concepts like temperature and pressure is currently being discussed intensely. Here, we study the simplest model, an ideal gas of noninteracting active Brownian particles. While the mechanical pressure exerted onto confining walls has been linked to correlations between particles' positions and their orientations, we ...

Nonlinear Dynamics of Active Brownian Particles

We consider finite systems of interacting Brownian particles including active friction in the framework of nonlinear dynamics and statistical/stochastic theory. First we study the statistical properties for 1−d systems of masses connected by Toda springs which are imbedded into a heat bath. Including negative friction we find N + 1 attractors of motion including an attractor describing dissipat...

Patterns of synchronization in the hydrodynamic coupling of active colloids.

A system of active colloidal particles driven by harmonic potentials to oscillate about the vertices of a regular polygon, with hydrodynamic coupling between all particles, is described by a piecewise linear model which exhibits various patterns of synchronization. Analytical solutions are obtained for this class of dynamical systems. Depending only on the number of particles, the synchronizati...

Modelling Migration and Economic Agglomeration with Active Brownian Particles

We propose a stochastic dynamic model of migration and economic aggregation in a system of employed (immobile) and unemployed (mobile) agents which respond to local wage gradients. Dependent on the local economic situation, described by a production function which includes cooperative effects, employed agents can become unemployed and vice versa. The spatiotemporal distribution of employed and ...
